Frequently Asked Questions

CBD tinctures are one of the most popular CBD products on the market. Each of our tinctures is created with organic MCT oil (coconut derivative) and full-spectrum hemp extract.

What is the difference between CBD oils and CBD tinctures?

Despite the fact that the term “tincture” has many connotations in relation to what was once thought to be a tincture, CBD tinctures and CBD oils are typically the same types of products. Although tincture was once an extract made with an alcohol solvent, modern CBD tinctures typically do not.

Manufacturers tend to use CBD tincture and CBD oil as interchangeable terms. Therefore, both cannabidiol products are created by mixing a hemp-derived extract with some type of carrier oil, such as coconut oil or hemp oil. To make sure you know what you are getting with any CBD product, simply go over the ingredient listing on the label.

How do I use a CBD tincture?

To use a CBD tincture, simply use the included dropper to measure your dose. As a general “best practice”, take a small dose and work your way up so you know how the CBD will affect you. Drop your dose under your tongue, hold the fluid in place for about 30 seconds, and then swallow as usual. While many people tend to take their CBD tinctures at night before bed, others use it in the morning to start their day. Timing comes down to preference. So, experiment!

Is CBD the same as weed?

No. Very different. CBD is a cannabinoid derived from plants that are part of the cannabis family, which does include hemp. For the most part, the term “weed” is used in reference to traditional cannabis (marijuana) that contains high levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and low levels of CBD. The strains of hemp that we grow on our farm are naturally high in CBD and contain extremely low levels of THC.

Will your CBD tincture get me high?

No , our CBD oil tinctures will not get you high. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid and is more noteworthy for its therapeutic effects. However, we use full-spectrum hemp extract to create our tinctures, which means you do get fractional amounts of other cannabinoids like THC. However, the amount is so low it is hardly detectable.

Are CBD tinctures legal?

Yes, CBD tinctures are legal thanks to the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. All products derived from hemp that contain 0.3 percent or less THC are considered legal to purchase and ship. At Mansfield Provisions, our products are all lab-tested to ensure they contain legal amounts of THC only, so our CBD tinctures are completely legal.

How long does it take for a CBD tincture to work?

The timeline of effects for CBD tinctures can vary depending on a number of factors. (1) The amount of CBD you take, (2) your body chemistry, and (3) the way you take your CBD tincture or oil.

Generally speaking, taking CBD tinctures sublingually by placing your dose under your tongue and holding it there for absorption, will yield faster effects than just swallowing the fluid. Sublingual dosing allows the cannabinoid to reach your bloodstream in about 15 to 30 minutes, but ingesting CBD may take a few hours for the solution to take effect.

Can I apply CBD tinctures to my skin?

You can, but we don’t recommend it. Our CBD tinctures are not formulated for use on your skin and they will be much more effective when ingested sublingually. Topical application of a CBD tincture meant to be ingested will not deliver the same effects. Products meant to use on the skin are most often in the form of salves or lotions, such as our 300mg Unscented CBD Salve.
