2021 Field Update

We’ve been busy at work this spring and summer prepping the field, planting, and maintaining this years crop. We thought it was time to share what strains we selected this year, give you an update on how things are going, and let you know we have some new products coming out very soon!

First of all, if you are not in Vermont, we had a beautiful start to this season with ideal conditions for the start of the season. It was warm, with lots of sun to help kickstart this growing season. If you have been following along with our farming journey, you know we spent a lot of energy improving soil conditions over the past few years in the fields. We are very grateful to our local arborists for delivering copious amounts of wood chips, that we used in-between rows in previous years, and also turned into the soil the first year to help build organic matter. This year all that hard work seemed to pay off! As soon as the plants hit the ground, they took off like, well, weeds!

We have also spent a significant amount of time over the past few years visiting other farms, not only to see first person, how hemp that we purchased to extract was grown, but also to see what was working and what strains were performing best in our region. After many years of taking notes this year we left some strains behind, brought some back, and are giving CBG White a trial run this year. All our hemp is grown naturally, without any added chemicals, nutrients, or sprays. We never use black plastic in our fields, but instead leverage the power of cover cropping to assist with weed suppression and aid in the regeneration of the soil. Read on and learn more about each strain we selected this year, some highlights on why, and be sure to keep and eye on our website early this fall to get your hands on the freshest hemp flowers, and pre-rolls!

Lifter

Lifter from Oregon CBD, has been a staple strain across the hemp industry for many years now. With numerous 1st Place awards, Lifter is an extremely consistent, high yielding strain that loves the sunny, warm summer days in Vermont.

Mansfield Provisions typically uses Lifter as the staple strain in all of our Full Spectrum CBD products, and we have had amazing results using this strain for the past 3 years. Consistency is key when it comes to product formulation and after trialing many strains in our R&D phase, Lifter seemed to rise above the rest when listening to customer feedback. Suver Haze

Suver Haze from Oregon CBD is another favorite that we hand selected after trying numerous strains in 2020. While yields are much lower than the Lifter, the quality, terpene profile, and overall experience of Suver Haze smokeable’s are very uplifting. It clocks in as the most potent strain we grow, and we are excited to expand our offering of this stellar strain this year.

Special Sauce

CBG White

Another strain by Oregon CBD, and a new addition to our field this year we have high hopes for the CBG White hemp. Like CBD, CBG is showing very promising results as outline in this article by Healthline. While we haven’t seen much of the CBG White in person, we have heard reports of the lemon cream like aroma and citrus notes when puffing a pre-roll.

We are hopeful to bring 1:1 tinctures to market this fall once we harvest, which will increase the entourage effect of the tinctures. We will provide updates on aroma and flavor notes once we have harvested our initial batch. T2

The Seeds for our T2 CBD Hemp Flower comes from a local breeder 7 Leaf Genetics and was the very first strain we started growing 3 years ago. Generally yielding smaller quantities than the Oregon CBD strains, T2 still makes it to the top of the charts when it comes to potency, flavor, and overall experience. It also takes the crown for being the most photogenic strain in the field. Late in the season it expresses itself with deep purples, drastic yellows, and magnificent greens that are complimented by an extremely fruity aroma as you walk the fields.

T2 is the fruitiest of the strains we grow, boasting a grape like flavor with hints of citrus on exhale. Although T2 hasn’t made it mainstream like the Oregon CBD strains, but T2 is not a strain to shake a stick at. It will not disappoint you and is a great strain to enjoy at any time throughout the day.
